When it comes to lens filters, you need them! You will be unable to capture the motion needed without them...
But infact you only need 3 filters...
ND64 (6 stop)
ND1000 (10 stop)
CPL (circular polarizer)
The square filter set is absolutely the best system on the market for doing rigshots but can be used for all of your photography. I never leave home without my set!
For the more budget conscious the circular filters get the job done!
